Many men and women struggle with unwanted fats. At times, even after months of diet and exercise, it is difficult to eliminate fat in problem areas such as the hips, thighs, abdomen, and back. With the procedure taking only a few hours, it is no wonder then that liposuction is a very popular cosmetic surgery procedure today.
Liposuction is the surgical suctioning or vacuuming of fats from beneath the surface of the skin. It is used to reduce fullness in any area of the body. This procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis. The length of the operation varies from 1 ½ to 2 hours, under local anesthesia, with or without sedation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is It painful?
Liposuction is a simple and safe procedure, it is not painful- done under local anesthesia, and it is considered a same day surgery which means patient can be discharged or can go home the same day
Will there be scars?
The incision site approximately 1-2 mm only (like a pen hole), so once it healed it will be unnoticeable, there is no scar unless the patient is a keloid scar former.
Will the fat cells come back after liposuction?
Fat cells have a definite number, they do not regenerate or multiply, whenever we become fat they increase in size but not in number. After liposuction, the numbers of fat cells are decreased, and since they do not regenerate, you can never be the same size as what you were before.
How long is the recovery period?
Patient can assume normal activities right after the procedure though a one day rest is recommended
Is the result permanent? Is there a chance to be fat again in the area where i did Liposuction?
The result is permanent! Our body has a specific number of fat cells distributed all over the body, once we get fat- these fat cells remain the same in number, they only increase or expand in size that’s why we become bigger. By doing liposuction, we remove a certain number of fat cells on that particular area, thus resulting to improvement in your body contour. If it so happen that you don’t take proper care of your body (by having healthy eating habits and exercise) after liposuction, you are most likely to become bigger to other body areas that you did not do liposuction.
Is it normal to have bruising and swelling after Liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure, and in every surgery our body normally reacts to it. Once the fats are removed, there will be space between the skin and the muscle, so the normal reaction will be- the body will fill up this space with serous fluids thus producing swelling and bruising. But this can be minimized and controlled by using a special compression garment, to let the muscle and the skin adhere, controlling the swelling and enhancing the skin elasticity.
Will I lose weight after Liposuction?
Liposuction is primarily for contouring or reshaping of the body. You will see the difference in shape, size of your clothes and measurement of the body. There will be only minimal decrease in body weight because fat cells weigh very little, but they occupy big space or they expand.
